The Board's mission is to protect animal health and welfare, public health, and consumers of veterinary services.  The Board's authority comes from the Veterinary Practice Act, Chapter 686 of the Oregon Revised Statutes and Chapter 875 of the Oregon Administrative Rules.This is an executive service position and not represented by a union. Employees in the executive service serve in an "at will status".What Can I Expect?A forward thinking and committed board made up of eight members.100+ years in building partnerships around the state to support the work of the agency.What Can You Expect From Me?Provide leadership to the agency to assure regulatory compliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine.The ability to effectively articulate and exchange information with internal and external stakeholdersThe ability to ensure a process that allows ideas to be evaluated, adopted and implemented when appropriateThe ability to consider and appreciate multiple perspectives, backgrounds, and values, integrating them throughout the organization, creating opportunities to effectively achieve organizational goalsThe ability to responsibly manage resources and actively promote a culture in which those resources are effectively utilizedWhat Would I Be Doing?Makes independent decisions regarding administration and operations, including but not limited to use of resources, budgeting, purchasing, contracting, workflow priority processing, and fiscal controls.Interprets and implements statutes, administrative rules, and policies as necessary for the smooth and effective functioning of this agency.Determines when an issue escalates to the Board, and in doing so, provides the research, background analysis, and concise information for the Board to make an informed decision, which the Executive Director will carry out.Works closely with the Board President when decisions must be made between board meetings, within a specific grant of authority from the Board.Hires, evaluates staff, and enters into professional contracts for services.Specific duties include, but are not limited to
